There's so much going on! Civic action committees and groups are forming on
so many issues. Many have also succeeded in wonderful contributions to
the community that we all enjoy. This site is about working together to better the Town of
Brookhaven. Recently, many issues have divided our community. Divided
we will fail. We all need to learn more about these issues. Is the news
media complete and comprehensive?
This deficit of information is what we hope to
fulfill and on that note, we urge everyone who has documentation to contact
us and contribute it. Essays that provide better understanding are also
welcome. (We ask for real contact info, privacy will be respected, we just
want to verify accuracy of all contributions).
We hope to create a "research
center" that will aid all in developing their opinions and also, help people
to become better informed.
Please share your findings
here with others you may know, your friends, neighbors and those you work
with who live in Brookhaven Town . A well informed community can better take
care of itself. The Voice of Preservation is silenced as we read about beach
and park closings and landmark projects that fail.
Do you feel there are
things that are infringing upon your rights in your community? Are you
"being pushed around" by arrogant elected officials who "want things their way?" Don't like
political promise breakers?
Stop them now!
People all over
the country and of course in New York State are: FED UP! It's time to FIGHT
BACK!
We look forward to hearing from you!
Montauk Lighthouse Restoration

An example of a community's
joint efforts to preserve heritage, a piece of history, a scenic attraction
and overall land preservation. All groups working together as a team. What
similar opportunities do we have that are being overlooked? We have parks
and beaches being closed one after another. We have beach erosion overlooked
as we press for more concrete and pavement. Roadways to nowhere if we
continue to close the best attractions: our natural and historic assets!
Several weeks ago, an inquiry regarding land in front of our home to the
president of our local civic group received a response of, "You
have no say in the matter, the land belongs to the town." Well,
if all of the residents on an entire street have no say in what is to be
done on that street because "the land belongs to
the town," then who is "the town?" Is the way that we feel, that
We The People are the town owners
incorrect? Is it not We The People who
elect those we choose? And by majority to administrate and govern our town in the
way that We The People choose and
envision Our Town?
Or... is it proper for arrogant leadership to
disregard our wishes, proceed to follow their own personal visions and
behave as if, that when we voted them into office, we give them
Our Town and
all privilege that they arrogantly presume as "their
right?"

Closed Beaches and Parks are
a high price for things we have fought so hard and tried to preserve!
